send me a message!

this is the place where you can leave me a message while i am out on the trail. as i pass through towns that have some sort of access available (library, internet cafe, etc), i will be updating my trip log and hopefully posting some pictures from my trip. i will also be logging on here, so leave me a quick message (or, leave me a long message if that is your thing) and let me know you are out there. thanks!

Have some fun!

Doit while you can!

Peddle faster than the bears!

You should do a 'scrum log' graph of plan against days remaining. That would be cool!

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How good it is to get a message (forwarded, I might add, but that's OK!) from you!!! I've thought of you guys so much through the years. How are you??? :) Where are you living? Tell me all about what you've been up to! I know it's been about 100 years since I've seen you, but I'd love to hear from you and to keep in touch! Things are going very well for me. I have 2 kids, Garrett - 11 and Karleigh 6. I will also have 2 stepsons as soon as Troy, my fiance' and I get married.

I better get to work, but please keep in touch! I'd love to hear from you!

Love ya!

Angie

I'm jealous! I would love to do something like this but I'm still too caught up in the corporate world to break away!! My brother did something similar on the PCT but he was hiking, and I'm jealous of him too. I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute. I'll forward this on to Jeff since he's out in Arizona now (Elgin) and should be pretty close to you towards the end. BTW, great site and good luck!!

What you are going to do seems really great
Go for it.

In addition to donating to the charity, I would be willing to help you out if additional funds would help your trip. Let me know.

LOL, you better start figuring out your Gear!

Your Site says your still contemplating your naval!

Good luck & enjoy the ride Brian! We'll living the life of adventure vicariously thru you,and will check in on your progress :)

Brian,

OMG! I had respect for you before, but now I admire you! What a wonderful, selfless thing to do!

You really have taken life "by the horns". Very few people (if any), could do what you are about to. To be able to quit your job to pursue happiness and above all to do this to benefit those who are less needy is such a wonderful gift! I almost cried when I read this.

I am so sorry that I could not make your going away party. I was out of town and would have loved to wish you luck.

Have you thought about going public with your journey? Could you imagine the money that you could raise? =)

I wish you nothing but the best of luck, safety and best wishes on this "journey of life". I am so proud of you!

If there is anything that we can help you with, just let us know!

I will keep checking your site and maybe even see you if you ride back this way.

God speed and God bless!

Steph

Brian, it's late and I need to figure out how link the images to this blog. So I am sending you a link that you can use to upload the images yourself. Check you email for a linkl to all your 1st day images. And a few side notes, I almost missed my plane....last one on. I miss you. And in reference to your last message--you are NEVER alone. I am always with you.

Brian:
well you are off and running or should I say pedaling, anyway best of luck and we are all thinking of you and wishing you a safe journey.

Looks like your off. Must be a relief to have all the planning over and finally be started.

Good luck man! I look forward to hearing about your trip.

Hey Brian,
Hope that you had more to eat today than a snickers bar....
I have been thinking about you enjoying the cool mountain air in the Rockies.... How are the legs holding up? I bet the altitude isn't helping with your energy levels.... You now know why teams don't like to play the Broncos in mile high stadium.... By the end of this ride, you will be a lean mean biking machine.... Hehehe

I have been vacationing in NJ "down the shore" enjoying the beach and sunshine. Not looking forward to going back to the AZ heat. Got a couple more days to enjoy life and not think about awa.com....

I'm looking forward to reading more about your travels...

Take care Brian!

Linda

Just got back from a week in the mountains of Colorado. Thought of you every time we drove by a bicyclist. Good to hear all is going well. Chris H.

Hey Brian, hope all is well. Sounds like it's a tough ride!...and even tougher on your butt! ha ha Hope all is well. We adventure racer's down here in AZ will be thinking about you on your ride.

Later
Rick

Hey Brian

Your journey is on, wooh! I was meaning to have contact with you before you took off, but it snuck up. This is Tricia's niece, make sure you know who is sending you messages. I am in Victor, Idaho, which is just over the pass from Jackson Hole. I don't know it you are coming near. If you are maybe we can bike a bit together and/or you definitely have a bed, shower and meal. I hope you are having a great time and loving the simplicity of biking! Hopefully I will be in touch with you soon

Hey Brian,

Lawrence and I really want to hook up with you and ride from Steamboat to Breckenridge. We were initially planning on meeting you on September 2nd and riding Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday with you and then heading back to Phoenix. From reading your messages, I'm thinking that you aren't going to be in Steamboat on the 2nd as planned.

Update your message board and let us know when you think we can hook up with you in Steamboat and we'll make it happen. Who knows, we might even spring for some hotel rooms for you for a few nights!!!

I'm not into sleeping with the bears!!

Hi Brian
I've been keeping up with your adventure.
Pretty spooky @ Deadmans Creek. I've got a similar bear story to share when we see each other again. Consider "bear bagging" or hanging your food when in bear country if you aren't already doing so.
Anyway, I'm sure you're seeing lots of beautiful country and having a great time.
Be safe.

Have been following your log and was starting to worry a little with 7 days between entries. Congratulations on your progress so far! I'm plotting using Google Earth. Best of luck on this next leg.

I still think you are blessed to have the opportunity to make the ride.

I hope you can recognize the opportunity for what it is, and enjoy ever single second.

Let me know when and where to meet you for a few days ride...I am ready. (and what to bring besides bike & Camelback / tent)

Don

Nice work!

Too funny about the bear, but on the bright side you made it. Looks like your tally is now upwards for $40! Not to bad for a month worth of work.

Keep it up!

Wayne

Brian,
Happy belated birthday!!!
116 miles,2:15 am are you freakin' nuts or what?
Use me as your "phone-a-friend" next time you get
an idea like that.
Wow, half-way through the trip. Enjoy Steamboat
and the Rockies in Colorado. I would imagine that the trees will be changing colors soon, hopefully while you're riding through them to herald what you're accomplishing!
Way to go...Keep on cyclin'....

How about a tie-in south of the US border all the way to Mexico City? Check out the Ruta Chichimeca at: http://www.rutachichimeca.org/cartel04.htm

im from mexico,

I like ride bike like you ,

good luck

No more bear encounters!! That's scary stuff. Hollon Kinney and I were just talking about you when you raced together. Hope your trip is going well. You're probably in the height of the rockies right now, with that high elevation climbing. OUCH!

We're competing in the Gilmore Adventure Race in Prescott this weekend. One of the few that the race director actually gets to race in. I can't wait. Kim is volunteering, and she has inside info, but she won't give me any dirt.

Talk to you soon.

12 days with no posts! What's happening with you, cool guy? have you been eaten by bears? or cannibals?

I hope you're doing well on your trip. I'm looking forward to the Hero Homecoming party. Stay safe so we can all get together and have a great celebration.

Hey Brian,
Just searched for your website because I didn't save it but found it right away. Looks like you are moving along pretty well. I can't even imagine what your days are like but keep on going and good luck with the rest of your ride.

hey were glad to here that your still alive and that the bear decided you wernt a good enough snack we ask about you when everyobne comes in hoope to see you when you get back GODSPEED

By now you should have crossed through Elk Creek. That's not far from where I grew up. The water is nice and the fishing is good there but don't stray far from the creek as it gets dry.

Sometimes when you have a significant time alone to yourself, it is easier to ponder where you are in your life and where you want to go. With the kind of enforced solitude you are enduring during the ride, you might have the next 20 years all planned out. :)

Savor the ride, it will be over soon enough and be replaced by all usual day-to-day shtuff that occupies too much of our time and our thoughts.

Don't let the idiots behind the wheel get you down. Stay safe.
